Day Skiper RYA Courses

On this course students will be introduced to the challenge of taking charge as skipper of a yacht. Theoretical navigation skills will put into practice and include pilotage, passage making and maneuvering under sail and power. You will be given opportunities of develop your management of both crew and yacht, under the friendly and watchful eye of your instructor.

During the course you will learn and practice, man overboard recovery, mooring and anchoring under sail and power. Departure and arrival from alongside berths in a variety of different situation will further develop the “new” skippers organizational abilities.

Achieving the Day Skipper Practical award recognizes the candidates ability to skipper a small yacht in familiar waters in day light. The qualification is frequently requested by charter companies, and also the holders are entitled to apply to RYA for an International Certificate of Competence (ICC).

This course is available in a range of formats. It can also be combined with 4 days Day Skipper theory, and the 9 day course from Saturday to the following Sunday will get the enthusiastic student quickly upto Day Skipper standard.

• Day Skipper – 5 days over Bank Holiday weekend - Cost £300 deposit £50
• Day Skipper intensive – 9 days combining theory and practical - Cost £500 deposit £50
